Some products resonate best when simplicity and core function are celebrated. Air Force 1 allows for a greater creation aperture.
My role as Category Footwear Leader of Nike Sportswear was to visualize and execute a product creation plan to celebrate 30 years of Air Force 1.
30 years of Air Force I took learnings from AF25 (Lesson1 - edit to amplify) and a simple formula of: the past, present and the future x stop being so serious! Full length Max was an engineering miracle and the first time full length Max Air was integrated with cupsole construction.
Moreover, 30 years of Air Force 1 showcased that product creation behavior should be modified around the Icon. Different eras, different sports and how the Icon impacts youth culture have to be interpreted by the creation team. This is a huge responsibility. It’s also a learning journey in product acumen and taste.
